I published my first book, 40 Rules for Internet Business Success, last July. Since then, more than 10,000 copies of the book have been downloaded through Amazon. It briefly held the title of being the most downloaded book in Amazon’s small business and entrepreneurship category. The audiobook version of 40 Rules for Internet Business Success has been downloaded more than 1,000 times and I can’t count the number of people that thanked me for sharing my experiences in the book.
If you had asked me if I was going to write another book last fall, I would have emphatically said no. 40 Rules for Internet Business Success took a lot of time, energy and money to put together and I wasn’t ready to sign-up for another round of four solid months of hard work again anytime soon. I suspect that writing a book is a lot like pregnancy. You do a lot of work and wait several months for your baby (or your book) to be born. After the book is released (or the baby is born), you swear up and down that you’re never going to write a book (or give birth) again. After a while, you forget all of the pain and agony involved with writing a book (or having a baby) and think the process wasn’t so bad after all and sign up for the process again.
I’m happy to share that I’ve started writing a second book, tentatively titled Email Marketing Demystified. My new book will serve as a guide for any business or non-profit that wants to implement an email marketing strategy in their organization. You’ll learn all about generating opt-ins with your website, making money with your mailing list, selecting the right email service provider, writing email copy that converts and making sure your email actually gets into your subscriber’s inboxes.
As of the date that I’m writing this post, I have the first 5,000 words of the book written (about 1/8th of the total book). I tentatively plan to release it in October if the book takes about the same amount of time that my first one did. Like my first book, it will be available through Amazon in paperback, audiobook and e-book formats.
I’ll be giving a free copy of the book to everyone on my mailing list. If you’d like to get updates about the book and get a free digital copy of the book, enter your email address into the opt-in form on the top right of this page.
I also plan on posting some of the unedited chapters of my new book to my website while I’m writing the book. A new portion of the book will be posted every Tuesday until I’ve finished writing the book. This way, you’ll be able to get a flavor for Email Marketing Demystified and can implement some of the action steps in the book before its official release. Of course, these chapters will be totally unedited and will contain a number of grammatical errors and won’t be in final format yet, but hopefully the ideas will come across as they did in my mind when I wrote them. For the next several weeks, I’ll be publishing chapters related to list building and creating effective opt-in forms on my website. Watch out first the first unedited chapter next Tuesday.
